CHRISTMAS COFFEEHOUSE: UNDER THE TREE

I still can’t believe this happened.

The twice-annual “Coffeehouse” is a live production, and Liberty University’s most revered tradition. Creating the brand for this Christmas Coffeehouse, “Under the Tree,” was both an honor and a daunting challenge at once.

This Christmas Coffeehouse theme celebrates the magic of Christmas in a bit more materialistic way than usual. Where other Christmas shows were themed around Christmas lights, being snowed in, holidays in the city, or the North Pole, this show celebrated gift-giving, specifically on Christmas morning.

I wanted this brand to feature that excitement and nostalgia. I knew right off the bat that I wanted to “open up” the poster to reveal the title of the event beneath wrapping paper. With my decision to utilize green and gold as the brand’s colors, I incorporated wrinkled paper, torn paper, and fine foil textures into the design.

I also took the lead in designing the look of all video content promoting or included in the show. All video content (see “Student Activities” film page) was to match nostalgic CRT-TV programing- heavily inspired by old advertisements and motion graphics.

Christmas Coffeehouse: Under the Tree has sold over 6,000 tickets, filling Liberty University’s Vines Center arena.
